At Canyon Creek Elementary, we recognize the importance of collaboration between school staff, families, and students to encourage appropriate dress that supports a positive learning environment.
To ensure a safe, respectful, and distraction-free atmosphere, the following dress code guidelines are in place:
General Guidelines
Clothing, hair, and overall appearance must be clean and neat.
Extreme or sloppy clothing, as well as excessive or distracting grooming, is not permitted.
Extreme hairstyles that disrupt or distract from classroom learning are not allowed.
Footwear and Accessories
Footwear must be worn at all times. Slippers are not permitted.
Hats and hair accessories may be worn in common areas only if they are not distracting or disruptive to learning.
Accessories or attachments that could be considered dangerous or weapon-like are prohibited.
Clothing Requirements
Extremely low-rise, sagging, or baggy pants or shorts are not allowed. Underwear must not be visible.
Clothing must be appropriate for school. Muscle tanks, halter tops, spaghetti straps, and midriff-baring tops are not permitted.
Shorts are allowed only if they are mid-thigh length.
Clothing displaying obscene, vulgar, disrespectful, sexually explicit content, gang-related symbols, or references to illegal substances is not allowed.
Makeup and Body Modifications
Excessive makeup, body paint, and visible body piercings are not permitted.
Enforcement of the Dress Code
School administration will make the final determination regarding the appropriateness of student appearance.
If a student is found to be in violation of the dress code:
Parents or guardians may be contacted to bring appropriate replacement clothing or to take the student home to change.
In some cases, students may be provided with a school-issued clothing item for the remainder of the school day.
We appreciate the cooperation of families in helping maintain a respectful and focused learning environment.
