This week our school is celebrating Green Ribbon Week (March 10th–13th), a time dedicated to raising awareness about children’s mental health and encouraging students to take care of their minds and bodies through simple healthy habits.
🎉 Tuesday – Being Social
On Tuesday, students can participate in Crazy Hair Day and are encouraged to play with someone new at recess to help build friendships. Students will also have the opportunity to sign a pledge at lunch as part of the week’s activities.
💧 Wednesday – Water and Healthy Food
On Wednesday, the focus is on healthy habits. Students are encouraged to start the day with a healthy breakfast and wear blue from head to toe as a reminder to drink water. The challenge for the day is to drink 2–3 cups of water.
🧠 Thursday – Mindfulness
Thursday is all about mindfulness. Students can wear their favorite sports team jersey, try a new classroom brain break, and complete the challenge of staying off electronics after school.
🦸 Friday – Moving Our Bodies
On Friday, students are invited to dress like a superhero and complete the challenge of 20 minutes of physical activity at home. Students will also enjoy extra recess as we celebrate staying active and healthy.
Students will also receive a BINGO sheet with simple ideas to practice healthy habits. Those who complete five or more squares and return the sheet signed by a parent or guardian will receive a small prize.
